Well as most stay at home moms and even us on a tight budget are always looking for ways to save. I have been doing several things trying to save any way I can. I am a person who likes to create, bake and do everything I can myself, everything, lol! So in my free time I have been looking up things I can do to help the hubby with the expenses. I have mentioned it to several of you ladies and many have been asking me how, so I am going to try things and let you know my experiences in my own opinion and hopefully save all of you some too. So today I am going to let you in on my first secret that I have found very much worth the time. Several weeks ago I decided to make my own laundry detergent. Silly sounding I know, why make when you can buy. Well with 3 almost four children and 2 adults we were spending at least $6 a week in detergent. I am such a researcher and I can not explain or demonstrate any better than the person on this website does.

I followed their directions pretty much exactly but I decided to double my recipe and I bought a 10 gal container to keep it in and just stored it in my laundry room. I also bought a tea pitcher to keep it in and a 1cup measuring cup so I would not have to dig it out of the 10 gal container all the time. I love this detergent. Some clothing that I had trouble getting stains out of came out wonderfully with this stuff. I also used Fels Naptha laundry bar soap, which is only a dollar a bar at walmart. This didn't take me long at all to make and I did it while the kids were watching a tv show. my 1 gal tea pitcher lasted me about two weeks, and I do around 3 loads a day of laundry, and I still have several gallons left. The borax and washing soda will last you a while so the next time you will only have to buy the bar soap to make many more gallons. In my opinion it is a great way to save some cash, and it doesn't take much of your time. I am very happy with it and hope some of yall have great results with it. Let me know how it goes if any of yall decided to do it, and I would love to hear some other great money saving ideas. Sorry thats all for now because Mr Matthew is crawling out of his high chair, but Lord willing tomorrow I will post another great money saving thing I have been doing. Hope you enjoy!
