I'm sure all of you are probably tired of hearing my post, but my poor husband has to hear it so much I will just share with y'all and give him a break, lol! Well FYI on the dish detergent I made, you have to use the vinegar for it to work. Once it ran out of my rinse aid dispenser, the dishes kept getting a film on them, so a rinse aid is a must with this. I am in search of a new recipe, but am having a hard time finding one that really saves money compared my my newest discovery. When I ran out of detergent and I didn't want to use the vinegar, I bought a box of sun dish washing detergent for 1.00 at walmart, and I am impressed, my dishes come out shinny without the rinse aid. Now I don't think I will be able to make it much cheaper than that, but I am going to do some figuring and I will get back to you on that one. Now on to healthy food with minimal cost. I love so much to buy organic, but it is costly so I try to weigh out what is worth it and what is not. So there is a few swaps out there that are not so costly. Lets try peanut butter. We are a big fan of JIF peanut butter. It makes for a cheap meal and everyone gets full. Well peanut butter has hydrogenated oils in it. So I really dont want to feed my family this on a regular basis. Well this is an easy fix. JIF has made a natural peanut butter with no hydrogenated oils, at the exact same price as the regular one. We buy the biggest jar walmart has, by the way I have found no other store cheaper than walmart for this, and eat lots of it. Now the big question, does it taste different, no it doesn't. My picky husband did a taste test for me and he thought the regular JIF was the natural one. Now there is some natural peanut butters that are different so I am just vouching for JIF, but it is a cheap healthy swap to keep your family healthy. Well being a family of 5 almost 6 and packing my husbands lunch everyday we go through a lot of bread, and I'm sure all of you notice if you buy a good bread it is going to cost you. I have tried making bread but one thing is I can't hardly keep up with how much our family eats and I just haven't quite mastered it yet. Well a quick fix if you live in the Lenoir area is the bread store behind mcdonalds. They have good saralee bread for a 1.00 a loaf, and buns for 1.00 as well. The kind I like at walmart or food lion is about 2.50 a loaf. We go through about 4 or more loafs a week so that is a big savings for us! So yes I go and unload all of my children for a 5 min trip in the bread store, but the savings is unreal, and the bread is good. We have never got a bad loaf there, and it is always very fresh. So those are a few ideas for today. I hope it helps! Have a great day everyone!
